The sandwiches at this place will change your life... literally. I had one back in July and I have not stopped thinking about them. The ingredients are so fresh, you can taste it, the flavor combinations and homemade dressings are beautifully made and light yet packed with flavor! They have sourdough bread (a big win) and NM ginger ale, which is also delicious. The staff is super friendly, you feel like you just walked into someone's living room when you get in and start chatting with them. If you are in Taos I highly recommend eating here for as many meals as possible, it is SO GOOD!

Absolutely first rate outstanding food and service. We sat by the open kitchen and it was enjoyable seeing how caring these professionals prepared such great food in a relatively small kitchen. I had the dragon bowl with ahi and wow it was excellent! My wife and daughters meals were excellent as well. Definitely the best meal we had during our stay by far. Der Garten will be top on my list again when in TSV.

So I have a toddler. And I dined in this nice place with a toddler that skipped a nap. I know, it was terrible of me but we didn't have a sitter and it was my husbands best friends birthday. Let me tell you how the staff treated us. First, I ordered milk for my little one. Our server returned to our table and presented a carton of organic whole milk like it was a bottle of their finest wine. "Is this okay?" SIR. He them steamed the milk for the monster I brought it, much to my little ones delight! Then, my toddler escaped, only to be returned to the table with a toy racecar that kept him entertained. For the adults, my husband had an amber beer was delicious and cold. We ordered a beautiful hummus plate that my child absolutely loved. We had a charcuterie that blew me away with the pairings. We ordered the kid a spaetzle, which was a hefty enough size to have for lunch the next day - which he devoured a second time. If he eats your food, thats how you know its good. I had a delicious and gorgeous burrata salad. After filling his tummy, my husabnd rocked him to sleep by the fireplace and my little one rested his head on the soft bench with pillows, fluffy wool seat covering, underneath these twinkle lights.
Now before you come for me, if his grandparents had been in town we would not have brought him to dinner. And I'm not ringing the bell for all toddlers to come here, but the staff and chef had nothing short of kindness for us. The atmosphere feels like you're eating in someone's home. The effort they put in the presentation of the food makes you feel the love. The chef visited us at the end and thanked us for eating there. Homey. Warm. Comfortable. This is the last of the good ones. 10/10 100% recommend. I can't believe it took me so long to come here. As local, best believe I'll be back.

The coziest place in the valley. Eat an incredibly delicious, purely organic sandwich on their porch and talk with the staff the whole time. So many stories to tell, inviting, and comfortable place to visit. This was a highlight of our trip. The food is remarkable, the service incredible, and the location matches each. Can't miss.

1 word that would describe this place- spectacular. from the overall environment to the food. the staff was extremely friendly and welcoming, the food was absolutely delicious and made my tummy feel like a bottomless pit, and the environment was not only beautiful but so cozy and homey. i have no words to describe how amazing this experience was. We will definitely be coming back again. luvs it 🙂

Beautiful location - we sat, drank a lovely German reisling, ate a locally sourced veggie hummus plate and decompressed. Couldn’t have asked for a more better experience. One of the original Taos locations serving lunch and dinner. Give it a shot. You won’t regret it - Asia is wonderful, knowledgeable and so helpful.

I ate lunch at the Der Garten and I must say it was quite delicious. I had the Stuffy sandwich and I must say I will be back! Everything on the menu looked absolutely scrumptious and well priced.

This beautiful dog friendly lunch spot is located right across from Cids mountain market. While enjoying the beautiful views from this lovely spot you can learn all about the history of the Thunderbird lodge. One of the first Bavarian hotels located at the Ski Valley filled with rich history. This is a must stop for lunch and a little slice of Bavaria.
